We believe bouldering is for everyone! No matter your ability, age, or any other definable variable, bouldering is for YOU!
At Fargo Climbing we like to say, “If you can climb a ladder, you can climb our walls!”
It’s true! In fact a lot of our climbs are easier than climbing your basic ladder!
-
Fargo Climbing is a bouldering only gym. Bouldering is a form of rock climbing performed without ropes. Heavy duty foam pads catch falling climbers.
-
Bouldering and Indoor Rock Climbing offer a full body work out that is fun! Not only is climbing physically engaging, but its mentally engaging as well! When you climb you will leverage your entire body to make it up the wall!
-
Indoor rock climbing is a great physical activity for adults and kids! Climbers ascend problems (paths up the wall of varying difficulty) that will test both mental and physical strength. Bouldering is highly social, with climbers working together to figure out the best way to the top of the wall!
Also if you haven’t noticed, Fargo is very flat! The closest outdoor climbing is nearly 2.5 to 3 hours away!
When it comes to recreational and phsyical activities in Fargo Moorhead you have a lot of options. Ninja Gyms, Trampoline Gyms, Crossfit, Standard Gyms, Indoor Playgrounds, Traditional Sports, & More. Indoor Rock Climbing is unique because it provides an activity that anyone can do, it’s both physically and mentally engaging, and every week you have new options to climb on! You can also climb for life! Not only is it a “sport” but it’s also a lifestyle!
-
No appointment needed. You can walk in or buy a pass online (see pricing)! If you are a large group (12+ people) we ask that you email and set up a time so that we can accommodate your group, and give you a discount!
-
We will be the first to admit our parking lot is on the smaller side, and fills up fast. No worry! There is parking on both sides of the street out front, and if you are here on the weekends or after 5pm our neighbors to the East, Malloy, have graciously allowed our customers access to their parking lot! Please avoid parking at the LaQuinta Hotel.
Thanks!

First you will want to fill out a waiver, if you are under 18, you will need a parent or guardian to sign for you! Once you have your account made, and waiver signed, you can either purchase a pass online or at our front desk. From there you will receive a safety orientation, if you would like a more guided experience, you can also sign up for one of our “Intro to Bouldering” classes! That schedule can be found below!
-
You can bring your own climbing gear, or rent ours! Our only requirement is that you use a climbing shoe on the wall! Chalk is not required, but can be helpful if your hands are sweaty! Which we rent and sell!
-
All spectators will be required to sign a waiver, but will not be required to purchase a pass. We just ask no outside shoes on the pads!
-
All of our climbs get a V-Grade. The V-Grade starts at V0 and goes all the ay up to V17. While we don’t have any V17’s, we do occasionally set up to V11 or 12. Most of our climbs are within the V0-V8 range.
-
Rock climbing in all its forms is inherently dangerous. What does that mean? No matter how safe we try to be, there are still risk factors. Gravity works, if you fall, you will fall all the way to the pad. Just like driving your car to get here, there are risks you cannot fully mitigate!
-
A boulder problem is a path up the wall. Our problems will follow one color (blue holds, etc), they all begin with a designated start, which is marked with a climbing grade (difficulty rating), and then finish at the top of the wall or final hold. Your goal is to climb from the start, to the top, while grabbing only one color hold! If you can do this you have “sent the problem”! Now onto the next problem!
-
Climbing volumes are wooden geometric structures, they will be painted in the same color as the wall. Think of them as extensions of the wall! At our gym, all features and volumes are on! So grab that volume or arete! Everything is considered valid and fair game. You can also use all the walls and volumes as foot holds!
-
We use a 0-10 to scale, roughly based on the hueco scale used in outdoor bouldering here in the United States! 0 ‘s are the easier problems, 10’s are the harder problems. You might find some discrepancy in the grades, depending on style, wall angle, and hold type, these numbers may be off! We all have differing strengths and weaknesses! So try and find the easiest difficult climb and the hardest easy climb! Like Captain Barbossa said, “They are more like guidelines anyway!”.
